Psychiatric Evaluations

What to Expect

A Thorough Starting Point for Your Care

Your evaluation is an unhurried conversation about what you are experiencing and how it affects your life. It usually includes:

  • Your current symptoms, concerns and goals
  • Mental health, medical and family history
  • Past treatments and medications, and what helped
  • Sleep, stress, substance use and daily functioning
  • Screening tools when helpful

At the end, we discuss our findings, a diagnosis if appropriate, and your treatment options.

What You Leave With

A clear understanding of what is going on and a personalized plan, which may include medication management, lifestyle strategies, therapy referrals and follow-up visits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about psychiatric evaluation.

How long is the first evaluation?

The first evaluation is longer than a regular follow-up visit so we have time to understand your history. We will confirm the expected length when you schedule.

What should I bring?

A photo ID, your insurance card, a list of current medications and doses, and any previous mental health records if available.

Do you offer telehealth appointments?

Yes. Many visits can be done through secure video for patients located in New Hampshire at the time of the appointment. Some situations may require an in-person visit, and we will let you know if so.

Do you treat adolescents?

Yes. We provide psychiatric care for adolescents and adults. For patients under 18, a parent or guardian is involved in scheduling and consent.

Do you accept insurance?

Please call us at (319) 202-6581 or send an appointment request and we will confirm your coverage and any costs before your first visit. You can also see our Insurance & Fees page.

How soon can I be seen?

Submit an appointment request or call us, and we will contact you to find the earliest available time that works for you.
